Mixpanel Integration

Why Connect Mixpanel?

Samepage helps Product Managers stay on top of product usage trends without digging through dashboards. By connecting Mixpanel, Samepage users can:

  • Build Signals to track feature adoption, usage trends, and cohort behavior

  • Spot sudden changes in key metrics — drops in engagement, spikes in usage, shifting cohort patterns

  • Discover which features are gaining traction and which are being ignored

  • Use the Samepage Copilot to answer questions or draft documents informed by analytics data

Integration Type

Shared integration — one admin connects Mixpanel, and the data is available to all users in the workspace. This integration can be configured to select which Mixpanel projects are imported.

Data Imported

Samepage imports the following from Mixpanel:

  • Events — Event definitions and event data

  • Cohorts — Defined user cohorts and their membership criteria

  • Segmentation reports — Pre-built segmentation and funnel reports

  • Usage metrics — Aggregated usage data and trends

This data is used to help Product Managers understand product performance, feature adoption, and user behavior patterns.

Sync Behavior

  • Initial sync performs a full sync of all available data (not time-based)

  • Ongoing syncs perform a full sync of all available data

How to Connect

  1. You must have an existing Samepage account. If you need one, sign up at samepage.ai.

  2. Go to the Integrations page in Samepage.

  3. Find and click Mixpanel.

  4. Enter your Mixpanel service account credentials when prompted — you'll need your Service account username and Service account secret. To find these:

  5. Click Test to verify your credentials are valid.

  6. Select which Mixpanel projects you want to import into Samepage.

  7. Click Continue. Samepage will begin importing data from Mixpanel automatically, refreshing multiple times per day.

What You Can Do After Connecting

  • Create Signals that analyze Mixpanel data — e.g., "Summarize Mixpanel trends" or "Alert me if weekly active users drop by more than 10%"

  • Chat with Copilot about usage data — e.g., "Which features saw the biggest adoption increase this month?" or "How is the new onboarding flow performing compared to last quarter?"

  • Combine with other data — Cross-reference usage analytics with Jira tickets, support conversations, or meeting notes for a complete picture

Signal Examples Using Mixpanel

Signal

What It Does

Feature Adoption Tracker

Tracks WAU/MAU trends for key features and flags significant changes

Usage Drop Alert

Identifies features or flows where engagement has dropped week-over-week

Cohort Behavior Summary

Summarizes how different user cohorts are engaging with the product

New Feature Performance

Measures adoption and engagement for recently launched features

Example Signal Prompt

Here's a detailed prompt you can paste into a Signal's instructions field to get a comprehensive feature adoption digest:

Review all Mixpanel data and produce a structured summary organized as follows:WAU/MAU Trends — Report the current weekly and monthly active user counts. Flag any significant changes compared to the previous period (more than 5% movement in either direction).Feature Usage Changes — Identify the top 5 features with the biggest increase in usage and the top 5 with the biggest decrease. For each, note the percentage change and absolute numbers.Cohort Behavior — Summarize how key cohorts (e.g., new users, power users, enterprise accounts) are behaving differently. Highlight any divergence in engagement patterns.Funnel Performance — If there are funnel reports available, summarize conversion rates at each step. Flag any steps where drop-off has increased.Needs Attention — Call out any metrics that look anomalous or concerning — sudden drops, unexpected spikes, or cohorts that are trending in the wrong direction. Include enough context to decide whether to investigate further.Keep it concise. Use bullet points. Reference specific event names and metrics so I can cross-check in Mixpanel.

FAQ

Does this integration provide clickable links back to the source? No. Mixpanel data is imported as aggregated metrics and reports, so Signals and Copilot responses will reference specific events and metrics by name rather than linking directly to Mixpanel dashboards.

Privacy

Mixpanel data is never used to train AI models. Usage data and metrics are processed only to generate Signal outputs and Copilot responses. See Data Handling for more information.
