How Does Samepage Work With Slack?

If you saw a message in Slack saying a channel is now connected to Samepage, someone on your team chose to share the channel's content with Samepage. This article explains what that means for your messages.

What Is Samepage?

Samepage is an AI-powered product intelligence platform. It connects to the tools your company already uses, like Slack, Jira, Pendo, Zendesk, and Salesforce, so your product team can spot feature requests, decisions, and trends. Learn more at samepage.ai.

What Gets Imported?

Samepage imports the following from connected channels only:

  • Messages posted in the channel

  • Thread replies on those messages

  • Emoji reactions

  • Basic profile info (name and avatar) for the people who posted

  • Links back to each message in Slack

Samepage does not read channels that are not connected, and it does not read direct messages.

How Far Back Does It Go?

When a channel is first connected, Samepage imports messages from the past month. After that, it only syncs new messages from the past week. It does not import a channel's full history.

Which Channels Can Be Connected?

A Samepage admin chooses which public channels to connect.

Private channels work differently. A member of a private channel must manually add the Samepage app to that channel before it can be connected. Samepage cannot see or read a private channel unless someone inside the channel adds the Samepage app.

To add Samepage to a private channel:

  1. In Slack, open the private channel.

  2. Click the channel name at the top to open the channel details.

  3. Go to the Agents & Apps tab.

  4. Click Add agents and apps

  5. Search for and add Samepage.

Who Can See My Messages in Samepage?

Messages from connected channels are visible to people in your company's Samepage workspace. Only people your company has invited to Samepage can see them.

Is My Data Used to Train AI?

No. Slack data is never used to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

How Do I Get Access to Samepage?

Ask your Samepage admin to invite you. This is usually the person who connected Slack, or someone on your product team. Joining your company's existing workspace gives you access to the same data your team already uses.

How Do I Remove Samepage From This Channel?

Private channels

  1. In Slack, open the channel.

  2. Click the channel name at the top (or use the ⋮ menu) to open the channel details.

  3. Go to the Agents & Apps tab.

  4. Find Samepage and click Remove.

Note: You may need to contact your Slack admin if you are unable to manage Slack apps.

Public channels

Ask your Samepage admin to disconnect the channel in Samepage. Removing the Samepage app in Slack will not stop a public channel from syncing, because Samepage rejoins the channels your admin has selected.
