Why Connect Jira?
Samepage helps Product Managers stay on top of engineering execution without digging through boards and filters. By connecting Jira, Samepage users can:
Build Signals to track sprint health, blockers, and overdue issues
Spot risks early — issues stuck in progress, missing assignments, or stalled reviews
Surface patterns across projects and teams without manual status checks
Use the Samepage Copilot to answer questions or draft documents informed by Jira data
Integration Type
Shared integration — one admin connects Jira, and the data is available to all users in the workspace.
Data Imported
Samepage views and imports the following from Jira:
Issues — Tickets across all configured projects, including summary, description, and type
Status changes — Workflow transitions and current status
Labels — Issue labels and categories
Comments — Discussion threads on issues
Assignments — Assignee and reporter information
Sprints — Sprint names, goals, dates, and issue membership
Projects — Project metadata and configuration
Users — Team member profiles
This data is used to help Product Managers monitor execution, identify risks, and understand engineering progress.
Sync Behavior
Initial sync pulls issues from the last 2 years
Ongoing syncs pull issues updated in the last 1 week
How to Connect
You must have an existing Samepage account. If you need one, sign up at samepage.ai.
Go to the Integrations page in Samepage.
Find and click Jira.
Authenticate your Jira account and accept the requested permissions.
Samepage will begin importing data from Jira automatically, refreshing multiple times per day.
Note: After connecting, you can configure which Jira spaces and projects Samepage has access to.
What You Can Do After Connecting
Create Signals that analyze Jira issues — e.g., "Summarize recent issues" or "Flag any issues that have been in progress for more than 5 days"
Chat with Copilot about Jira data — e.g., "What's blocking the checkout redesign?" or "How many bugs were filed this sprint?"
Combine with other data — Cross-reference Jira tickets with Slack discussions, customer feedback from Intercom, or meeting notes from Zoom for a complete picture
Signal Examples Using Jira
Signal | What It Does |
Risk Radar | Flags issues stuck in progress, unassigned blockers, and items past their due date |
Sprint Health Check | Summarizes sprint progress — what's done, what's in flight, and what's at risk |
Bug Trend Monitor | Tracks new bugs filed vs. resolved over time and highlights recurring problem areas |
Cross-Project Status | Rolls up status across multiple Jira projects into a single view for leadership updates |
Example Signal Prompt
Here's a detailed prompt you can paste into a Signal's instructions field to get a risk-focused engineering radar:
Review all Jira issues updated in the past week and produce a structured risk report organized as follows:
Stuck in Progress — List any issues that have been in an "In Progress" or "In Review" status for more than 5 business days. Include the assignee, issue type, and how long it's been in that status. Link to the Jira issue.
Blockers & Dependencies — Surface any issues flagged as blockers or that mention being blocked in their comments. Note what they're blocking and who owns the resolution.
Overdue Items — Identify issues past their due date or sprint end date that are still open. Group by project or sprint.
Sprint Health — For each active sprint, summarize how many issues are completed vs. remaining. Flag any sprint that looks at risk of not completing on time.
Needs Attention — Call out any issues with no assignee, issues with stale comments (no updates in 7+ days), or issues that were reopened after being marked done.
Keep it concise. Use bullet points. Include links to Jira issues wherever possible so I can jump to the source.
FAQ
Does this integration provide clickable links back to the source? Yes. Jira issues include deep links that take you directly to the issue in Jira. When Signals or Copilot reference an issue, you can click through to view the full ticket in Jira itself.
Privacy
Jira data is never used to train AI models. Data is processed only to generate Signal outputs and Copilot responses. See Data Handling for more information.
