Why Connect Asana?
Samepage helps Product Managers stay on top of project execution and task progress without manually checking every project. By connecting Asana, Samepage users can:
Build Signals to track task completion rates, overdue items, and blockers
Spot projects falling behind before they become problems
Surface patterns across teams and workstreams without digging through boards
Use the Samepage Copilot to answer questions or draft documents informed by Asana data
Integration Type
Shared integration — one admin connects Asana, and the data is available to all users in the workspace.
Data Imported
Samepage views and imports the following from Asana:
Tasks — Tasks across all configured projects, including name, description, and due dates
Status changes — Task completion status and workflow transitions
Comments — Discussion threads on tasks
Projects — Project metadata, status, and membership
Users — Team member profiles
Custom fields — Including Priority, Status, and other project-specific fields
Tags — Task tags and categories
This data is used to help Product Managers monitor project health, track deliverables, and identify execution risks.
Sync Behavior
Initial sync pulls tasks from the last 1 year
Ongoing syncs pull tasks updated in the last 1 week
How to Connect
You must have an existing Samepage account. If you need one, sign up at samepage.ai.
Go to the Integrations page in Samepage.
Find and click Asana.
Authenticate your Asana account and accept the requested permissions.
Samepage will begin importing data from Asana automatically, refreshing multiple times per day.
Note: After connecting, you can configure which Asana projects and workspaces Samepage has access to.
What You Can Do After Connecting
Create Signals that analyze Asana tasks — e.g., "Summarize new tasks and those assigned to me" or "Flag overdue tasks across all projects"
Chat with Copilot about Asana data — e.g., "What's the status of the Q2 launch project?" or "Which tasks are overdue this week?"
Combine with other data — Cross-reference Asana tasks with Slack discussions, customer feedback from Intercom, or meeting notes from Zoom for a complete picture
Signal Examples Using Asana
Signal | What It Does |
Project Health Dashboard | Summarizes task completion rates, overdue items, and blockers across active projects |
Overdue Task Tracker | Surfaces tasks past their due date, grouped by project and assignee |
Blocker & Dependency Monitor | Identifies tasks that are blocked or have unresolved dependencies holding up progress |
Weekly Execution Summary | Rolls up what was completed, what's in progress, and what slipped across all projects |
Example Signal Prompt
Here's a detailed prompt you can paste into a Signal's instructions field to get a project tracking overview:
Review all Asana tasks updated in the past week and produce a structured project tracking report organized as follows:
Completed — List all tasks marked complete this week. Group by project. Include the task name, assignee, and a link to the Asana task.
Overdue — Surface any tasks past their due date that are still incomplete. Group by project and note how many days overdue each one is. Flag anything more than a week overdue.
Blockers — Identify tasks that mention being blocked in their comments or have a "blocked" tag. Note what's blocking them and who owns the resolution.
Task Completion Rates — For each active project, calculate the percentage of tasks completed vs. total. Flag any project where completion is below 50% of what was expected by this point.
Needs Attention — Call out any tasks with no assignee, tasks with no updates in 7+ days, or high-priority tasks that haven't moved. Include enough context that I can decide whether to follow up.
Keep it concise. Use bullet points. Include links to Asana tasks wherever possible so I can jump to the source.
FAQ
Does this integration provide clickable links back to the source? Yes. Asana tasks include deep links that take you directly to the task in Asana. When Signals or Copilot reference a task, you can click through to view the full details in Asana itself.
